Garlic Chicken with Orzo

Garlic Chicken with Orzo Noodles

It's not all sunshine and roses around here, folks. I don't say "This is the best thing I've ever made!" every time I try a new recipe. This dish is a perfect example of such. I wanted to like it, but there was something about it that tasted strange to me. I can't pick out a single ingredient from the list that could have turned me off, because separately I like them all. Sometimes foods just don't play well together, though, you know? Brad, however, enjoyed it and even ate some of the leftovers. Perhaps my tastebuds were just being uncooperative that day. It's obviously a healthful, colorful dish, but that just wasn't enough for me. On to the next challenge!

  1. Honestly, this looks like something our little family would gobble up in a flash. I'm on an orzo streak these days! Maybe you would like it better with shrimp?

  2. Hmmm...sounds yummy! I bet it would be good with some mushrooms in it, too. And, yep...you picked me out! :-)

  3. perhaps increasing to a tablespoon or two of the red pepper flakes would help--it certainly wouldn't be bland! that's my go-to cure for all things that bore me. that, or a dousing of hot sauce. :)

  5. I was drooling over the picture so I was bummed to read it wasn't your favorite! All those ingredients do look really good to me too! Though sometimes I can be sensitive to too much parsley. Can't wait to see what you try next!

  6. Darn, that's a bummer that you weren't crazy about this.As soon as I saw the photo and read the title my thoughts were oh, yeah! I already ran and to put some chicken in the fridge to defrost. I'm gonna go with Brad's taste on this one and give it a try. Like you each ingredient is one I (& the kiddos) really like!

Btw, I read that your Cash is turning 1 next month. What day? My B-day is the 13th, Joe's is the 19th, & the Twins are 25th. In other words we're broke next month! :)

  7. Hey, Abby! I made this but used shrimp instead. I also seasoned my shrimp with Old Bay rub! Even with the Old bay it needed something so I added a bit more and gave it a squeeze of lemon and it was much better. The Twins and my nephew gobbled it up. Next time I won't add the red pepper flakes as the Old Bay Rub has some in it. Thanks for another great dinner!

  8. Don't you hate it when a recipe doesn't work out? But I can see why you would be drawn to this - I love all of the ingredients!

Like Thumper's mama told him: If you can't so something nice, don't say anything at all. Thanks, y'all.
